Pregnancy: the gentle transition from woman to woman mother!
The needs of the pregnant woman
The whole pregnancy is a privileged moment for the mother-to-be to prepare herself and to accompany her unborn baby. Yes, yes, I mean to accompany her unborn baby!
Knowing the technicalities of childbirth is certainly important in order to feel more confident, surrounded and secure, but this should not be to the detriment of a serene pregnancy.
During pregnancy, the mother-to-be has many needs, including learning to:
- Focus on her needs, her body to better welcome the changes over the months of pregnancy: the body that changes, weight gain, the presence of baby in you that you see differently as the days go by... It is important for the mother-to-be to understand them, accept them and positivize them. Because fortunately, they will not last but should we suffer them? I don't think so
- Let go of discomforts and doubts. Soft and natural methods can reduce them, make them disappear and thus live the pregnancy with more serenity and peace of mind
Pregnancy and parenthood support
Sophrology has its place in the preparation for pregnancy and parenthood. Much practiced in Europe to prepare pregnant women, it has shown its strengths and assets that go beyond a simple technique to use or theory to learn.
How does it work?
Because this method teaches the pregnant woman to pass from the state of a woman to that of a mother with all that this can involve (discomforts, aches, questions, bodily changes, fears…) until she goes into labor and gives birth.
Sophrology is a method, a personalized personal or group training, which is based on relaxation techniques, breathing, visualization and positive projection and reconnection of the body with the mind. It is situated between the oriental influence (meditation) and the western influence (neurosciences, hypnosis) and combines this with other disciplines of well-being. People become active in their well-being.
3 essential principles are developed during a coaching:
- A better knowledge, awareness and acceptance of one's changing body
- Developing positive thoughts throughout the pregnancy in order to reduce anxiety-provoking thoughts and questions and thus put at a distance any daily source of worries in order to live more calmly, develop optimism and reduce fatigue. This will also help to develop confidence and abilities, resources for the birth and the arrival of the baby in her life
- Preparing for childbirth: labor, contractions and delivery. Each stage has its own importance and its own challenges and allows you to prepare for the arrival of your baby in a more serene manner
When to start this support?
It is possible to prepare for the arrival of the baby as early as the 3rd month of pregnancy and to regularly practice the practices seen and done during a session with the practitioner in order to install a sense of well-being and to serenely consider the postpartum period.
This preparation can also begin in the 3rd trimester of pregnancy and come in addition to other practices or accompaniments: aquagym, haptonomy, doula…
Whether it is individual, personalized or in a group, the accompaniment allows from the beginning to defuse the problems linked to a previous pregnancy that was not well lived or to the problems of a woman’s life.
The mother-to-be needs to learn or relearn to relax completely, to accompany the contractions of the uterus and not to undergo them, to know her intimacy in order to better understand the passage that the baby will take at the time of birth as well as to keep her energy throughout the labor.
This accompaniment can also allow to become aware of the importance of the family environment and to give the right place to the father and to the future big brothers or big sisters and to understand that the arrival of a child contributes to give a place and a different meaning to this family which is built. Sophrology finds its place in a birth project and allows to develop important life skills as an ideal starting point to develop a serene relationship with your child.
