10 tips to improve and maintain your self-esteem!
by Christelle Marchetti | on February, 22 2024 |
It’s hard to dream big when you feel small…
The relationship and feelings we have for ourselves is important. Is it more positive? Negative? The more benevolent and fair the relationship, the happier it will be. The more benevolent the feelings, the more it’s possible to overcome our limits and believe in ourselves, even when we encounter difficulties in life. In other words…
The way we look at ourselves, our self-esteem, the value we place on ourselves in OUR OWN EYES, either PROPELS US or RALLS US. So how can we improve and maintain our self-esteem? How can we keep a positive outlook on ourselves in our daily lives? Discover the 10 TIPS…
First and foremost: know how to measure the VALUE you have for yourself!
By having a high level of self-esteem and accepting and appreciating ourselves as we are. High self-esteem makes it easy to take action, and when that action is a success, it boosts self-confidence. If it’s a failure? the person will relativize and maintain their CAP, their path, while learning from their failures.
But watch out for the right dose!
Low self-esteem slows down our evolution and brings us many fears to overcome.
High self-esteem is no more beneficial, and can make a person appear pretentious, arrogant and isolated from others.
Here are 10 tips to keep your self-esteem HIGH!
1-Accept yourself
Accepting yourself as you are and moving away from the way others look at you.
“I’ve got curves, and I accept them”.
2-Thinking of yourself
It’s important to go at your own pace, and our pace isn’t the same as others. Some people are faster, are ready before us on projects….that’s OK.
“I passed the competition, but I’m not among the best. That’s OK.”
3-Recognize your qualities Have a positive self-image
We all have faults and qualities, which can even change over the course of our lives. The important thing is not to focus on your faults, but on your qualities. Write them down, reread them regularly and keep the list evolving. If necessary, ask your friends what they like about you,
“I didn’t pass the competition, but I worked hard. I’m proud of myself.
4-Asking for help to suppress toxic thoughts
Learn to eradicate polluting thoughts, to retain only the positive. That which moves us forward!
“I take care of myself and feel I’m evolving”.
5- Practice a sporting activity
Learn to surpass yourself, set goals and reassure yourself of your abilities.
“Every day I improve my performance”.
6- Congratulate yourself
Congratulate yourself on everything you’ve done. Every step is a step forward.
“I do meditation every morning and I congratulate myself.”
7- Accepting areas for improvement
Accept constructive criticism. Taking a step back from your weaknesses and areas for improvement is crucial. Accept feedback, use it and take stock of yourself.
“I’m conscientious and determined, but I’m sometimes too stubborn and perfectionist.
8- Asserting yourself, saying NO
Don’t accept everything from others. Know how to say NO and not run away in order to protect, strengthen and develop your self-esteem.
“I’m aware of my limits and if I don’t feel capable or available, I know how to say NO.”
9- List your core values
Knowing your fundamental values means being able to define the limits you must not exceed, so as not to forget yourself!
“The value of family is important to me, and I don’t accept that work should take precedence over my family life.
10- Turning shortcomings into qualities, failures into learning
Every failure makes us grow. Failure doesn’t stop us, it makes us GROW!
Accept our faults, assume them but don’t suffer them. Get rid of the ones that weigh us down in our daily lives. It’s important to identify them. It’s also important to identify certain personality traits that we consider to be weaknesses, and transform them into strengths. Sophrology, a holistic body-psychology practice, draws on a number of techniques, including positive thinking. A key to progress and unblocking situations. Don’t dwell on what you lack, but focus on WHAT YOU HAVE.
“I didn’t pass this exam, but I know what I can do to improve.
